YOU GUYS!
I can’t believe I missed two weeks in a row on the newsletter.
I’ve been working hard on a new book which was due July 1, and I got it turned in this week, which is part of it. It’s about Saint Nicholas! I’ve been reading non-stop about the rise of Christianity in the late Roman empire and especially Nicholas, who lived in a very strange and interesting time, where you could get thrown in prison for being a minister (and he did!) but by the end of his life Christianity was the official religion of the entire empire. (Also, he was very likely at the Council of Nicea, he visited “Syria Palestine” — as it was called at that time — before it was “the Holy Land,” beating out the religious tourism movement by over a decade). ALSO he was alive to celebrate the first “Christmas” on December 25th. Anyway, super fascinating guy and next year you can read my book all about him!

Do you know how to say “SPEED” in Norwegian?
Eh, who cares about a title? Isn’t the movie just as good regardless?
I didn’t forget that you voted on the newsletter name two weeks ago, but I have been so busy I haven’t been able to think about it for a minute!
This headline is very specifically geared to my sense of humor and I could not stop laughing:
Also his name is MILES ASTRAY?! How could this get better I ask you?
Read more here.
Did you miss Bruce?
He’s very focused on all the delicious food available during the summer, and we don’t see him in the house as much as usual!
I hope you’re enjoying the great outdoors as well!
Peace,
Matt
The German words for drive is “fahrt” as in when you say “have a nice trip” = “Gute Fahrt!” Be sure and take an air freshener along for the “drive”🙂.
